RU-58841 Research Reference at Chemyo

This is the Chemyo research reference for RU-58841: what the compound is, its molecular identity, the formats in stock and the published batch testing. RU-58841 is supplied for research use only; nothing on this page is dosing, administration or clinical guidance.

What is RU-58841?

RU-58841 is a non-steroidal antiandrogen synthesised by Roussel Uclaf in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Unlike oral antiandrogens, it was designed for topical research, with the aim of blocking androgen receptors locally in the skin while limiting systemic exposure.

Published work studied RU-58841 in models of androgenetic alopecia and acne, including the stump-tailed macaque baldness model and human scalp grafted onto mice. The compound was later licensed for development but never reached approval, and there are no completed large human trials. It is therefore supplied as a research chemical in solution and powder form.
