What is SR-9011?
SR-9011 is the sister compound of SR-9009, created in the same Scripps Research programme on synthetic REV-ERB agonists. In mouse studies it altered circadian locomotor behaviour and the expression of clock and metabolic genes in liver, muscle and fat tissue, which made it a useful probe of how the molecular clock links to energy metabolism.
In 2018, a study in Nature used SR-9011 and SR-9009 to test REV-ERB agonism against several cancer cell lines and brain-tumour models, which widened research interest beyond metabolism. Like its sibling, SR-9011 has not been evaluated in humans and is supplied only as a research powder.
