Sunifiram (DM-235) Research Reference at Chemyo

This is the Chemyo research reference for Sunifiram (DM-235): what the compound is, its molecular identity, the formats in stock and the published batch testing. Sunifiram is supplied for research use only; nothing on this page is dosing, administration or clinical guidance.

What is Sunifiram?

Sunifiram (DM-235) is a piperazine derivative designed at the University of Florence by Manetti, Ghelardini and colleagues. It was derived from the structure of piracetam but is not a racetam: opening the pyrrolidone ring produced a compound that was reported to be several orders of magnitude more potent in rodent memory tests.

Animal studies associated sunifiram with increased acetylcholine release and with activity at AMPA receptors and the glycine site of the NMDA receptor. All published data are from rodents; sunifiram has never been tested in a clinical trial, which places it firmly in the pre-clinical research category.

Sunifiram FAQ

What is the difference between sunifiram and unifiram?

Both come from the same University of Florence series. Unifiram (DM-232) was described first; sunifiram (DM-235) is a simpler, related piperazine analogue.

Is sunifiram a racetam?

No. It was designed from piracetam’s structure but is a piperazine compound, not a pyrrolidone-based racetam.

Has sunifiram been tested in humans?

No. All published research is in rodent models.

Which sunifiram format is available?

Chemyo stocks a 10 g sunifiram powder with batch analytics.
